Anup Jacob

Anup has been investing in the energy and resource sectors for 16 years and was most recently the Managing Partner at Masdar Capital, a wholly owned renewable energy & efficiency vehicle of the Government of Abu Dhabi.

Prior to Masdar, Anup was co-founder and partner at several private equity firms including Virgin Green Fund and Aqua International (a Texas Pacific Group sponsored fund). Anup started his career at Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette working in the Energy Investment & Merchant Banking groups.

Anup has served on several private and public company boards, investment committees and chaired both audit and compensation committees of VGF, TPG and DLJ portfolio companies.

Anup is also on the non-profit board of Grid Alternatives in the US, which aims to bring renewable energy to low income homeowners. He has served as a national judge for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, the Financial Times/Just Means Social Innovations Awards, Zayed Future Energy Prize, MIT Clean Energy Prize and keynoted at several conferences including the Norwegian Government’s Enova Initiative, California’s BlueTech Valley, Yale SOM, Sloan & HBS.

Anup is a graduate in Economics from the University of Chicago.
